Andrew Dust first set up practice in 1985.

The practice was established in the current form in 1990 and now runs with the support of four other experienced technical and professional staff, from offices in London, at Islington (north London), Balham (south London) and Marlow/Henley (Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire). Andrew Dust is a chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers

Whilst experts in the field of structural engineering, we have considerable professional experience and are able to offer and provide professional services, not restricted purely to structural engineering, but embracing the full spectrum of structural and architectural services.

We provide professional services for all and have successfully designed and controlled many building and structure types, from state of the art to historic buildings, our projects range from small domestic to major projects including multi-storey design.

Building, structural and subsidence investigation, ground and geotechnical engineering advice and design are important professional services we provide.

We also regularly act as party wall surveyors and can be appointed as CDM co-ordinators and as expert witnesses.

We can provide a full service and project manage with contract administration new and refurbishment / conversion projects from initial feasibility and appraisal, valuation and acquisition, thorough planning, design and construction to successful completion.

We regularly work closely with a select group of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Building Services Engineers, Architects and Town Planning consultants and can co-ordinate and call upon their specialist assistance, offering a complete service, as and when necessary.

We use computer aided structural analysis and drawing facilities and our drawing output is produced with CAD.
We follow Quality Assurance procedures, with the intention of accreditation to ISO 9000.

We value highly, invest in and encourage the training and professional development of our staff.

About Andrew Dust

Andrew Dust is a chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (M IStructE) and has been employed within the building construction and structural engineering industry for over thirty six years.

Andrew Dust set up the practice in 1990 and continues to take a leading and active role, whilst managing and allowing initiative of the practice design engineers.

Prior to setting up the practice in 1990;

Andrew Dust was engaged for thirteen years within the District Surveyor's service, rising to Deputy District Surveyor acting and controlling building matters in accordance with the London Building Acts, The Building Act 1984, Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Following employment within the District Surveyor's service Andrew Dust controlled as director a property and building development company and was active in all spheres of property and land development.
Also, Andrew Dust was a partner of a successful building surveying and structural engineering practice and was responsible for the design and construction of numerous projects.

Andrew Dust has specialist knowledge and is very experienced with the analysis, design and construction of buildings, structures and ground works or sub-structures.

Andrew Dust has undertaken particular research into specific fields of structural engineering and post-graduate research and studies including:

· Design and construction of space frames and multiple layer space grids
· Buckling and post-ultimate behaviour of steel I-beams
· Dynamic behaviour of structures and earthquake engineering
· Subsidence, clay soil movement, investigation and remedial measures
· Difficult and piled foundations in chalk
· City University London: MSc Structural Engineering
· Oxford University: Reinforced Soil: Mechanics and design; Behaviour of soil and reinforcement; soft ground applications; steep slope and wall applications

In addition to professional duties in the building and structural engineering field
Andrew Dust can be commissioned and appointed as a:
· Party Wall Surveyor, in accordance with the Party Wall etc. Act 1996
· CDM co-ordinator in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007
· Expert Witness in respect of building and contract disputes and or legal proceedings
